- The provision of dental and items of personal hygiene to an orphanage in Pakse
- The distribution of clothes to a remote village in Southern Laos
- The sponsorship of a book club to distribute books and collection of books for a library to primary school students
- The supply of educational materials to two schools
- The donation of shoes for all the students in the village
Existing elementary and secondary schools in rural Laos are oftentimes
dilapidated and lack fundamental elements conducive to a child's learning
environment. Jai Lao will work to renovate and modernize schools in the developing
rural communities of Laos. We strive to provide for the basic safety and educational
needs of students, including the installation of bathrooms and running water,
provision of electricity to classrooms, replacement of dirt floors, and provision
of playground equipment for school yards.
Existing elementary and secondary schools in rural Laos are often in need of reading and writing materials. Jai Lao believes that reading and writing help stimulate a child's mind and therefore, Jai Lao will also ensure that newly renovated schools receive the necessary educational supplies to make learning in school fun, stimulating and rewarding, including text books, readers and general school supplies.
The fate of the needy in Laos depends in part on the success and charitable hearts of Laotians in developed countries. Jai Lao will implement a need-based and merit-based scholarship program for their full potential with the educational opportunities available to them in the United States.
Jai Lao has a simple and strong desire to give back and help Laotians. We embrace our
Lao traditions and heritage and will uphold and promote all the beautiful aspects of
Lao culture. Further, Jai Lao will diligently strive to instill Lao's unique culture
to our posterity as passed down to us by our parents.
There are many talented and charitable kind-hearted people who desire to give back to those in need but simply don't know how they can help. Jai Lao welcomes and encourages all of us to have "Jai" for those that are less fortunate. Jai Lao volunteers will have the oppunity to participate in our service missions to Laos. These Laos service missions will be funded by individual volunteers who in essence can experience a pure feeling of love and compassion from their act of generosity and service.
The dedication and success of Jai Lao's short-term goals will bring us one step closer to our long-term goals, which include the following:
- Jai Lao desires to build schools for remote villages in Laos that do not have established schools.
- Jai Lao desires to implement an English language program for volunteers to teach English to eager Laotian students in Laos.
- Jai Lao desires to establish a financial aid sponsorship program for university students in Laos.
With passion and conviction in our hearts, we will strive continually to work and serve tirelessly for our Lao brothers and sisters. Through our programs we hope Laotians everywhere can collaborate and connect to each other regardless of where we live or where we come from.
Donating supplies at the S.O.S. Orphanage in Pakse
When members of Jai Lao visited the orphanage in Pakse, we were prepared for sadness. Upon entering the grounds, we were pleasantly surprised to see beautiful homes in lush green landscaping. The director of the orphanage showed us around and we were greeted by happy smiling children. It was even hard to tell these children had no father or mother to call their own. Up to 10 children shared and maintained individual homes with a House Mom to take care of their needs. It warmed our heart and soul to see that this particular orphanage was well funded and taken care of. We know there are other children are not as lucky as S.O.S. funded orphaned children.

Big Brother Mouse Club www.bigbrothermouse.com
For just $300 members of Jai Lao sponsored Big Brother Mouse Club which provided books to all the elementary school kids as well as an additional 50 books were provided to start their library. Also, teachers each received a gift from the Club. Kids also got to enjoy 3 hours of fun, games and treats. If you are ever in Luang Prabang, this is the most rewarding and priceless $300 you'll ever spend. Big Brother Mouse Club was started by an American man named Sasha who saw the need for books and wanted to showcase the artistic talents of Laotians. One Child's Garbage Is Another Child's Treasure...
Most of us who have gone back to Laos have shown charity even when we think it's not a big act when we donate our old clothes to our family and people in the village. To them, it is a very meaningful and much appreciated act to lug all those clothes for them. Jai Lao donated a total of 23 suitcases of old clothes to this small village. The airport officials are very gracious once they find out why the suitcases greatly outnumber people on the flight.

It All Started in the Playground....
A child's mind is stimulated not only in the classroom, but in the playground. In most if not all the country villages in Laos, there are no playgrounds to play and explore. A 6 year old little Jai Lao American girl asked her mom, "Mommy, how come these kids don't have any playground to play in?" From her idea and heart, a small donation of $750 was made to have a playground installed. It was the greatest feeling and the start of more projects we wished to do for kids in Laos.
